Lyrics:
Daddy’s little girl, princess of my world, |
Notes[]
Inspiration[]
The song is based on country music, specifically songs like Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses."[1]
Song revisions[]
In an interview with Variety.com, Music producer Adam Schlesinger and his collaborator Steven M. Gold noted that this song went through a lot of changes due to Standards & Practices objections to the original racier lyrics. Schlesinger mentioned the original joke of the song was that Darryl was saying things that pointed to him possibly being a pedophile. The joke was changed instead to Darryl being unable to express his love for his daughter without him sounding creepy.
Reprise[]
The song's lyrics and melody were reprised in the Season Two episode song "Rebecca's Reprise".
