This song is sung in the pop/rock style of 1960’s American Girl groups, a genre made popular by such acts as “The Chiffons” and “The Crystals”. In particular the song seems heavily influenced by “The Ronettes” as it has a similar vibe to the groups hit single "Be My Baby."

The scene is also similar to the 1990 Cher music video "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)". It was a cover of the 1964 song first sung by Merry Clayton and later made popular by Betty Everett. The song was written and composed by Rudy Clark.
