Michael Hyatt ( born Charlene Hyatt) is an actress of Jamaican descent born in Birmingham, West Midlands. Her parents are Vera, a historian, curator, and former Deputy Director of the National Gallery of Jamaica, and Charles Hyatt, an actor, broadcaster, and comedian. At the age of ten her family moved to the United States where they lived in Maryland and Washington, D.C. In high school She went to Howard University earning a BFA and attended Tisch School of the Arts where she received her MFA. During her college years she did a theater practicum, worked at Arena Stage and was employed as an assistant for director Spike Lee. Hyatt's early career as an actress included appearing on the Broadway musical "Ragtime". She started appearing on television landing a recurring roles on two popular HBO series "The Wire" and "True Detective". Hyatt has had numerous guest turns on network show such as NBC's "Ths West Wing". Her career extended into films as she had a featured part in the 2014 film "Nightcrawler". In 2015 she was cast in The CW network's musical comedy "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" as Dr. Noelle Akopian.
