Paul Welsh is an American actor, improvisational comedian and writer from New Fairfield, Connecticut. His father worked at IBM while his mother raised him and his three brothers. As a child he briefly performed in a stage production but at the time didn't believe it to be a viable career path. In high school he was an honors student, a competitive swimmer and student class president. After graduation he moved to Washington where he attended Georgetown University majoring in Government and Italian. He moved to New York City where he stayed for five years initially working for a law firm. During this time he also pursued his passion for performing by taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade. After taking a year off he decided to scrap his plans to be a lawyer and focus on becoming an improv comedian. To support himself he worked at a hedge fund while still performing at UCB. In 2012 he abruptly moved to Los Angeles and started collaborating with the L.A. UCB shows. Welsh found steady work on series like "Key & Peele" and "Broad City". In 2016 he was cast in the role of Trent Maddock on The CW network's musical comedy "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend".
