Stephnie Carmel Weir is an American actress, comedian and writer. She was born on November 28, 1967 in Odessa, Texas. Her father was a car salesman who acted in local theater and inspired her to be a performer as well. After graduating high school she attended Odessa Junior College majoring in theater and broadcasting. While attending school she worked as a mail carriers and began appearing in plays at Odessa's Globe Theatre. Weir married Sean Benjamin in 1989 and they moved to Edwardsville Illinois. It's there she attended Southern Illinois University and took classes in women's studies and anthropology. Weir divorced Benjamin in 1995 and moved to Chicago where she began working as a comedian. She also found work in television and film while honing her craft at the Improv Olympic and The Second City main stage. In 2000 Weir began appearing on the sketch comedy show MADtv eventually becoming a regular. In 2001 she married actor and writer Robert Dassie; together they have a YouTube channel called WeirDass. After leaving MADtv in 2006 more movie and television roles followed as did work behind the scenes as she wrote and produced for several sitcoms. In 2015 she was cast as the recurring character "Karen" in The CW musical comedy "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend".
