 Whether it's comedy or drama, as a director I enjoy finding that key that makes it real, the moment to moment. I started my career as a screenwriter and as such the heart of my work will always be storytelling.

Stuart McDonald is an Australian writer and director. He began his career in the late 1990’s in his native country working as a writer for the television show ”SeaChange.” He also directed a few episodes which led to more directorial work on other productions. This included a number of collaborations with comedian Chris Lilley on his projects “Summer Heights High”, “Angry Boys”, “Ja’mie: Private School Girl”, and “Jonah from Tonga.” McDonald spent over a decade exclusively in the Australian film industry and winning multiple AFI awards. In 2012 he started doing more work overseas in the American television market. He directed several sitcoms such as “Happy Endings” and “Suburgatory.” Starting in 2015 McDonald directed several episodes of The CW musical comedy “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” By 2018 he directed a total of 7 episodes over a span of three seasons. |
